PROJECT  1

Add a heading (9).jpg

This design project introduces me the basic understanding of design elements and principles, processes and approaches in generating ideas, developing design and translating it into form in a workshop based exploratory studio.

The project encourages to tap into the critical and creative side through modes of exploring design elements and principles every week and applied to your models and tattoo stamps. For this, I've chosen my principle as Symmetry.

Project 1 consist my understanding for the design elements Symmetry in Points, Lines & planes .

1.  For the points model ( first) , A reflective symmetry can be seen through the horizontal and vertical axis.

2. For the Lines, the auburn balsa wood and base balsa wood give the model a contrast of color rhythm while allowing a 4 line symmetry layout through 4 axis of horizontal, vertical , side length . â€‹

3. For the plane, Bilateral symmetry is achieved through a middle vertical axis which create a line of reflection for the other parts  .

4. The finale, Lines and Planes are designed using the concept of Hyperbolic which results in an interesting levitating curvism construct by lines and planes. Symmetry can be found through a vertical axis

From all the design elements, I've chosen a rather straightforward concept which is Symmetry. In my humble opinion, Symmetry represents an importance in design as it provides a sense of harmony and balance in dimensions, due proportions, and arrangement.

The simplicity of symmetry in design is beautiful, To achieve it, I create balanced a distribution and arrangement of equipment of equivalent forms and spaces on opposite sides based on a dividing line through the Axis. Through this project, Bilateral Symmetry & Radial Symmetry can be spotted in the 3 primary base forms which are points, lines & planes.

Overall, this was a fun experiment, this is my first trial in the introduction to design elements, and I learned a lot about it and understand the many variations that symmetry can achieve which I then corporate into my 2nd and 3rd project.
