PROJECT 3
In Project 3, The final task for us is to design a Tropical Sanctuary at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam (TBNSA). The sanctuary should have a contemplating area, as well as spaces for resting, discussion, and other activities. The maximum built-up space allowed for the structure is 100 square meters, and it should comfortably accommodate two people, including the student and a family member, for a short stay of 2-3 days.
The design must consider the immediate tropical site context and establish a strong relationship with the surroundings, making the architecture unique to the landscape and activities of the sanctuary. The structure should showcase the student's design intentions through the application of architectural principles, materiality, and constructability, aiming to create a memorable spatial experience for the users.
The specific space requirements for the sanctuary include a contemplating area for exploration and observation, working areas for day-to-day tasks, a discussion space, a resting area for reflection, meditation, and relaxation, and a washroom for basic hygiene needs.

We conducted site data collection and analysis for our assigned site in group formed , we are to include site layout, climatic studies, natural features, existing structures, circulation patterns, human activities, and sensory studies. We then produce Design Response Vignettes matrix in small groups for two micro-sites, and lastly individually create Site Use Alternatives diagrams for one site. The analysis is documented using physical maps and diagrams. After analyzing, I decided to choose Site B which is the one closer to the flying fox site but still have the potential for a private stay.

I designed a space to meet the needs of myself and my brother, incorporating the concept of Order And Chaos. This concept represents the harmony between human (Chaos) and the surrounding site (Order). As humans, we embody chaos with our constant movement, while nature remains calm and still. Being part of an outdoor sports club, we engage in activities like kayaking, swimming, skateboarding, and even extreme sports such as rock climbing. However, we also appreciate moments of tranquility for bird watching, meditation, gardening, and relaxation. The structure I created allows us to enjoy our chaotic activities while embracing the ordered nature, finding a balanced coexistence between Order and Chaos.

: Reflection :
For this project , I was tasked with conducting thorough research and analysis of the physical context of their assigned site. This process instilled in me the importance of understanding the site's unique characteristics and features.
As the journey progressed, tropical research-based studies became the focal point. I delved into climatic studies, comprehending the sun path, wind direction, and rainfall patterns , natural physical features, such as soil conditions and the diverse flora and fauna present in the tropical environment converting them into diagrams for further usages.
Incorporating the concept of order and chaos, I explored the dynamic relationship between humans and nature through case studies from Kengo Kuma . after reading through some of his ideology , I then have a concept that humans embody chaos through constant movement, while nature represents order with its serene and tranquil essence. This realization became the foundation for my design approach.
Guided by this understanding, I undertook the task of creating a space that harmoniously embraced both order and chaos. I aimed to strike a balance between the bustling activities associated with human presence and the tranquil order found within the surrounding natural environment. The design process focused on seamlessly integrating these two contrasting elements, allowing me to coexist and create a symbiotic relationship.
Through this self-reflecting journey, I not only developed their skills in data collection and analysis but also cultivated a deeper appreciation for the intricate interplay between order and chaos. My designs became a testament to my ability to find harmony within the complexity of the tropical landscape, embodying the values of learning, research, and the creative synthesis of contrasting elements.Through out this project, I have earned the Taylor Graduate Capabilities [TGC] of life long learning , communication skills and social competencies .
